Becoming a Journalist

Most of the following information was found throughout Chobots.net:

Before we get into becoming a journalist, I first want to show you the privileges and rewards of being one.

- Journalist badge on your playercard with your blog title
- The possibility for your blog to be featured on the play page
- Your blog will be featured on the Official Blog
- Moderators will bookmark your website!
- You will be invited to write one blog post on the Official Blog
- You will be added to an exclusive mailing list to receive all the behind-the-scenes information and news before anyone else does
- One free week of citizenship in the beginning of the month
.- Automatically receive the feather item
- PC moderators even though their card is blocked
- Purple nametag to distinguish yourself

As you can see, there's a lot of rewards if you are a journalist for Chobots. However, the journey to becoming one can be long and hard! As of January 2013, Chobots have decided to raise the requirements from just paraphrasing the Official Blog posts to needing creativity, originality and overall writing/blogging skills from the authors. I've decided to break up the following into 3 main parts:

1. Creativity: This applies to the whole blog itself. You don't just want a blog that is black and white. Instead, try adding colors, themes, pictures, custom templates, and more! Perhaps add a tracker of your chobot, or some custom widgets found on Chobots main website. But remember, try to keep everything Chobots related!

2. Originality: This is a huge problem for most blogs, and is why the won't get featured. Many blogs have posts that are copy/pasted onto their website. If you are doing this, you definitely will not become a journalist. Instead, try re-wording the post and adding pictures of your own.

3. Writing/Blogging Skills: This is definitely the hardest to change. Some people are naturally great at speaking, while others may not be as gifted. If you are, then you need to use that skill to your advantage through your posts. If not, then keep working on it by checking out other blogs for inspiration.

Well, that's about all I got. I'm still mastering it, so if you haven't reached your goal of becoming a journalist, keep following these steps and just keeping trying as hard as you can!

-Ember (P.S. Please don't copy and paste this on your blog)
